Tango Lessons at the Santa Monica Pier

Ever hear about the Santa Monica Twilight Dance Series? In short, during the months of summer, Santa Monica hosts this weekly music / dance festival thing on the Pier. Every Thursday you're treated to some eclectic music, concerts, vendors, and so on. We mean to go every year, but only make it out once, maybe twice.

This year was no different and we just have not been able to make it out there. However, on Aug 25 I found out that they'll have Tango Lessons on the Pier!

Well, hell. Tango lessons. That must happen, I thought to myself.

So, I convinced Wifey to book it out of work early and come pick me up to head out there. We were not disappointed! Tango lessons started promptly at 6pm, which consisted largely of scooting around in big circle and (quickly) learning 5 or so different steps. We got the hang of it pretty quickly, but it was a bit difficult to try things out with some many people around us. The instructors were Cecilia Piccinni and Lucas Molina, and were funny but professional. If we could afford lessons we may make it out to their studio sometime.. :)

After our quick tango lessons we made it out for some dinner at Big Dean's Oceanfront Cafe - and lemme tell ya, these guys are great! The food was fantastic (I must have had 4 gigantic tacos), and the waiters were funny and honest - all in all, great service =)

Our night didn't last too much longer after that, though :( With full stomachs all tango'd up, we decided to call it a night and head home. Guess our stamina isn't what it used to be in our old, old age ;)
