If you've never heard of the Downtown LA Art Walk, the short end of it is as follows: Every 2nd Thursday of the month a whole bunch of art-minded folk descend upon Downtown LA and, well, celebrate the arts, if you will. This means that you walk up and down the streets taking in the various art installations, street artists, musicians, and the like for a couple of hours.
We've been told about the Art Walk before, but have never really been able to make it. And so we decided t'heck with it, we're making it out this time!
Our adventure there was slightly derailed as we thought it wise to park at LA Live. Pro-tip: Artwalk is nowhere near LA Live. Damn. We walked something like that eight or ten blocks to get to the actual ArtWalk (roughly Spring and 5th), but we made it!
The ArtWalk itself is definitely an experience. And this experience included a holy-mother-ton of people! It was thoroughly packed. But, we got to see an amazing amount of installations, booths and the like. It seems that many of the shops host art installations, cautiously moving all of their stuff aside to make room for people and art. One bank in the Old Bank District hosted an installation by Mattia Biagi, which was overwhelming, creepy and kinda unsettling at times. We also wandered into a laundromat that was temporarily host to some arts & crafts folk selling their products. Wifey picked up a neat looking hairpiece thing, which she then wore to a friend's wedding the following week.

In addition to the art, the area also got swamped with various food truck from far and beyond. We stopped by the Chuck Wagon which was, well, expensive but pretty tasty! I had some brisket thing that was drenched in sweet BBQ sauce. Pretty durn good!
I think the next time we give Art Walk a shot we're going to try and get there early and also perhaps park closer. Walking back to LA Live was ... long .. and we are not yet confident enough in the neighbourhood(s) to know where we should and, more importantly, should not venture!
But, we made it home without incident and so wrapped up another fun and adventurous date night =)
