As has been mentioned before, Wifey and I quite like seeing movies. We are, however, not at all knowledgeable about movies or films or whatever. Call us uncultured if you will, but we like what we like and let's leave it at that!
That said, every now and then we like seeing an artsy movie, or something out of the ordinary for the fun of it. And so, for Date Night, we headed over to The Silent Movie Theatre to watch "A Thousand Clowns".
Now, the theatre itself is great - real small but real intimate, and you know everybody there loves movies and the whole movie-going experience. Took us a while to find parking though, but well worth it.
So the movie. "A Thousand Clowns" was shot in 1965 and is basically about a guy, Murray (Jason Robards), who is determined to not 'fall in line' with the rest of the working worlds but who is facing the very real danger of losing custody of his son.
Great movie, definitely recommend to see it. It's charming and sad and funny and everything all at once sometimes. And the writing is fantastic - we haven't seen dialogues and monologues like that in, well, ever.
So if you haven't gotten a chance to see A Thousand Clowns, do check it out :)
And that was just about it for date night - nothing fancy or elaborate, we just watched an old movie at a charming little theatre in Hollywood! So, in a word, perfect =)
