Block Party, Glühwein, and Mario Kart (yep, as random as it sounds!)

Written by Wifey.

For our latest & greatest date night, I looked up holiday events in the area and came upon the downtown Culver City block party. Figured it was a great chance to support our local businesses, plus they advertised carolers in Victorian costumes and roller derby girls. Neat-o!

Turned out to be not as exciting as we thought though. The carolers left before the event was over, so the only glimpse we saw of them were a few people walking into the parking lot talking on cellphones. And most of the stores/restaurants didn't seem to have much going on. We did try a new restaurant, Novecento. Well... turned out to be new to us. :-p I asked when they'd opened, and the owner said they'd been there for almost 16 years... whoops! Guess we'd just never noticed them there before! The food was okay, but the atmosphere was nice and romantic... with a random upside down Christmas tree on the ceiling. :-p So, it inspired nice date night conversation!

After dinner we headed home to battle in Mario Kart on the Wii. We had decided to try our hand at mulled wine, or "Glühwein", as Hubby refers to it. Trader Joe's had a can of spices, so it was relatively dummy-proof. Not Wifey-proof though!! I didn't quite follow the directions, and we ended up with some rather strong mulled wine. Certainly made Mario Kart rather interesting! Hubby is trying to convince me to try the mulled wine again, with fewer spices... I'm not entirely convinced yet. Maybe on his date night!!
